       The Way to Happiness is a 1980 booklet written by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard listing 21 moral precepts, and distributed by The Way to Happiness Foundation International, a Scientology-related non-profit organization founded in 1984.and and Tamil language books in  Tamilnadu distributed by The Way to Happiness Foundation Tamilnadu a Registered Scientology-related non-profit organization founded in 2004 in India .

Translated into 90 languages (a Guinness world record), the booklet is used as part of Scientology's Criminon rehabilitation program and is promoted by Scientology celebrities. The unsolicited distribution of personalised copies of the booklet to schools and mayors' offices has caused controversy, and while it is promoted as secular in nature, critics have stated that it includes ideas that are specific to Scientology, and is used as a recruiting tool.The Way to Happiness Foundation Tamilnadu  is a non-profit Organazation (Registered under Indian Trust act)under affiliated to The Way to Happiness Foundation International is a non-profit 501(c)(3), incorporated in 1984. Headquartered at 201 East Broadway, Glendale, California, the foundation coordinates the activities of the Way to Happiness international network, including continental and national officies, associates and local groups. The Way to Happiness Foundation International is a division of the Association for Better Living and Education (ABLE), and is a "Scientology-related entity" under the 1993 IRS Closing Agreement.

FOUNDATION

The Way to Happiness booklet contains a set of 21 precepts, which were written by author, and founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. It was first published in 1981 by Regent House, Los Angeles as a 48-page paper-covered booklet (ISBN 0-9605930-0-4). This book is frequently given out by Scientologists. A campaign in the early 1990s to distribute the book in United States schools was described in Church of Scientology publications as "the largest dissemination project in Scientology history" and "the bridge between broad society and Scientology." A song titled "The Way to Happiness" appears on the music album The Road to Freedom, with music and lyrics by L. Ron Hubbard.

The TWTH book sets a standard of conduct for the citizens of the world. This agreement then creates a civilization. A civilization is a place where individuals and groups and countries are able to get along with each other without violence and wars.  
 
The Way to Happiness book bridges cultural, language and religious barriers, and thus our campaign is comprised of volunteers and supporters from all over the world who are helping people everywhere to live happier, more successful lives and to create a safer, less violent world for all based on these common sense principles and values. 
 
Each chapter of the book includes an in-depth essay that is easy to read and understand. It teaches in a way that makes sense and can give a person the values and understanding needed to make intelligent, correct decisions in life. The chapters are:

Is The Way to Happiness a religious book? 
 
The Way to Happiness Foundation International is a secular organization and The Way to Happiness book is not a religious book. However, many different religious groups have used The Way to Happiness book as its simple but powerful messages are compatible with and complimentary to most religions of the world. 
Since The Way to Happiness book is not religious, it is also suitable for any individual, public or private group to use to improve conditions in life. 
 
The author of the book  
The Way to Happiness book was written by L. Ron Hubbard in 1980 as an individual work and is not part of any religious doctrine. 
 
The 1970s marked a period of intensive moral decline in the West. The place of religion became increasingly restricted and moral and ethical standards were broadly challenged on many fronts. In 1980, the United States Supreme Court ruled that a public school in Kentucky could not post the 10 Commandments as to do so would violate the separation of church and state mandated by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Commenting on this and other developments of the period, Mr. Hubbard wrote, "When religion is not influential in a society or has ceased to be, the state inherits the entire burden of public morality. It then must use punishment and police. Yet this is unsuccessful as morality, not inherent in the individual, cannot be enforced with any great success." 
 
Seeing the collapse of moral standards and reduction in influence of the institutions which historically had advanced those standards, Mr. Hubbard wrote a wholly secular and non-religious, common-sense moral code, The Way to Happiness, a booklet that can be used as a logical guide by individuals of any race or religious background to help themselves, their families and associates. With 21 fundamental precepts, fully discussed, the booklet is used by children and adults to develop moral standards based on their own reasoning and understanding of why and how those standards promote a happier life.

The purpose of The Way to Happiness Foundation Tamilnadu (TWTH INDIA) and its network is to create a safer society through the use of The Way to Happiness book. A continual stream of books out into the society is the primary function of all TWTH activities.  The distribution, reading and application of books makes a safer, more stable individual, family, group, neighborhood, city, state, nation and a safer world. Tens of thousands of people worldwide are part of the international distribution network that has distributed more than 90,000,000 books into the hands of mankind.  The Way to Happiness International network is composed of different types of activities and groups.
